Swine Flu got you Panicked?

On Saturday my stake had a stake preparedness fair. It was full of information on many different topics but there was one booth there that particularly caught my interest. It was on how to make a pandemic influenza preparedness kit. This was the first time that I had seen any info on this and since we happen to be in the middle of an out break I thought it was useful information. The kit info can be found at http://www.iwillprepare.com/. Click on Pandemics and then the Pandemic kit selection. There is also a lot of other useful info on the website so check it out. Here is what the church has to say on it too: http://providentliving.org/content/display/0,11666,8041-1-4414-1,00.html

Also, I just bought a bucket of dry milk from Costco. It is by the Morning Moo brand which I happen to like. It makes 52 gallons and cost just over $57.00, so just over a dollar per gallon. I thought it was a good deal and added it to my food storage. I also stocked up on water while I was there and apparently a lot of other people have been too because their supply was low!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Whole Wheat Blender Pancakes

This is one of our favorite recipes that we use the Bosch for so I thought I would post it in case anyone else wanted to try it. We've also done it in the Vita Mix if you want to try it that way. The pancakes are so easy to make and it's great because it helps you rotate through your food storage!

1 cup wheat (whole kernels)
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs
1 t. salt
1/3 cup oil
1 T honey
1 T baking powder

In Bosch blender add 1 cup wheat and 1 cup milk. Mix on speed 4 for 2 minutes. Add final 1/2 cup milk and blend for additional 2 minutes. Add egg, oil, honey and salt. Blend for 20 seconds. Add baking powder and blend gently jogging "M" (momentary) switch 3-4 times. Pour batter onto hot griddle or waffle iron.

Enjoy!

P.S. I would love other food storage recipes if you have any!
